Understanding Joint Pain

Joint pain is a chronic condition that is caused by an illness, such as arthritis, or an injury to the joint. Many people experience pain alongside swelling, stiffness, nerve pressure and redness.

People are more likely to experience joint pain if they’ve experienced trauma to a joint, overused a muscle or have arthritis or another inflammatory condition, such as:

  • Arthritis. Arthritis is a degenerative condition affecting the joints. Osteoarthritis is a common type that happens when the cartilage that cushions the bones gets worn down over time from wear and tear. Some people have an autoimmune disease known as Rheumatoid arthritis, which gradually leads to deformation of the fingers and wrists.
  • Bursitis. Bursitis affects the hips, elbows, knees and shoulders when they are overused. The fluid-filled sacs that cushion bones and other tissues become inflamed. Repetitive movements can cause and make bursitis worse.
  • Injuries. Joint pain often happens due to an injury, such as a sprain, that impacts either the joint itself or nearby bones.

There are many other reasons a person may have sore joints, which is why a physical assessment is essential. Understanding what’s causing your joint pain allows our team to develop an effective treatment plan so you can heal.

Manage Your Joint Pain With Chiropractic Treatment

People with joint pain often try numerous treatments before finding something effective. Physicians Plus uses a holistic approach to health that allows us to treat our patients without invasive interventions. Our treatments rely on a detailed understanding of how the body works, rather than simply treating the symptoms alone. Chiropractic resolves the underlying problem that is causing pain to support long-term healing and improve the patient’s overall well-being.

Once you schedule an appointment, we’ll complete a full health assessment that encompasses your health history and a physical exam. Once we determine what’s causing your joint pain, we’ll develop a custom treatment plan that integrates your unique physical needs to maximize success. Joint pain can be treated using various techniques, such as physical rehabilitation or manipulation. As you continue your treatments, you’ll notice a significant reduction in symptoms, and eventually, you’ll feel like yourself again. Supporting your long-term goals is our priority, and we’re confident in our ability to help you.
