Hip Pain

Hip pain is one of the most common forms of chronic pain, and it can impact how you function in your everyday life. A stiff, sore hip can be caused by a variety of underlying issues that should be treated at its source rather than masking the symptoms alone. Advanced techniques are the key to healing and achieving better long-term health.

Physicians Plus strives to help you achieve peak performance in everything you do. We are your most trusted chiropractors delivering a full range of holistic treatments that target pain at its core. Hip pain can be caused by injuries, muscle strains, chronic conditions and unhealthy movement patterns, so we design your pain management strategy according to the unique factors influencing your health. Contact us to schedule an appointment with our team, and we’ll help you achieve your wellness goals so you can feel like yourself again.

What Is Hip Pain?

Hip pain includes any pain or discomfort experienced in or near your hip joint. This joint is the location where the hip and the femur, or thigh bone, connect. As one of the biggest joints, it is responsible for bearing weight, movements and maintaining balance.

While some forms of hip pain are short-term problems, it can sometimes be a symptom of a larger health issue that needs to be treated. The location of the pain can indicate the area that’s damaged. You might experience pain in the following regions:

  • Near the Surface Around Your Hip. Pain in this area typically indicates problems related to the soft tissues, which are muscles, ligaments and tendons.
  • Deep In the Joint. Pain coming from deep in your hip is likely to be due to issues with cartilage or bones.
  • In the Lower Back. Occasionally, hip pain radiates to surrounding areas, such as the lower back or groin.

Occasionally, hip pain is limited to specific situations. For instance, you might feel relief when resting, but the pain returns when walking. You might notice more pain in the morning upon waking. Some patients have worsened pain at night, usually due to laying on the affected side while sleeping.

How Is Hip Pain Treated?

Minor hip pain can be treated with rest. But as athletes ourselves, we know that spending time resting can be hard for you. Our mission is to help you get you back on your feet as soon as possible and back into your active lifestyle. We use innovative pain management techniques to relieve pain and its associated symptoms by addressing chronic issues impacting movement and mobility

At our office, you’ll work alongside a chiropractor to create a custom pain management strategy that targets the root cause of your hip pain. We utilize manipulation and mobilization, physical rehabilitation and soft tissue treatments to help heal underlying issues. What Causes Soft Tissue Injuries, and How Are They Treated?
